Imperfect Delight

Writer's picture: Brittany BenkoBrittany Benko

To you, I seem a perfect catch.

But, underneath it all, I am broken.

Like a fine piece of china with a chip,

I can shatter with a slight grip.

I stand tall, resembling a goddess.

But, alas, I have you fooled.

I am as pale as the moon.

Smothering like the heat in June.

Beautiful like a flower;

Every rose has its thorn.

I laugh by day and mourn by night.

I walk through life in imperfect delight.

Bittersweet emotions.
