One of a Kind

Emotionless and delayed

Disinterested in toys and play

Content with television and being alone

Comforted with simplicity in your home

Attracted to the color red

Fighting sleep when going to bed

Smiling big while going up and down

Calmed by the colors blue and brown

Enjoys the feeling of kisses on cheeks

You are what makes my life complete

Your little mind is one of a kind

Do not let this world make you blind

This poem is featured in the Autism Parenting Magazine in the month of January in 2021

I wrote this poem when my son was at risk for having autism. He received an official diagnosis in early November. I was also working on Poetic Poetry at that time.
